Simon Stevenson is the John and Rosalind Jacobi Family Professor of Real Estate at the University of Washington. Prior to joining UW, Simon worked at Henley Business School, University of Reading where he was Professor of Real Estate Finance & Investment and Director of the MSc in Real Estate Finance. Simon previously held faculty positions at Cass Business School, City University of London and the Smurfit School of Business, University College Dublin, as well as visiting appointments at the University of Adelaide, EDHEC Business School and the University of Auckland.

A native of the North of England, Simon undertook his undergraduate degree in real estate at Liverpool John Moores University. He then switched track into finance, pursuing his Masters at the University of Stirling and his PhD at University College Dublin. These twin passions of finance and real estate have continued throughout his career, his primary research interests being in the fields of real estate capital markets & portfolio management; housing economics and international financial markets. He has published over 80 papers in journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance & Economics, Journal of Housing Economics, Regional Studies, Housing Studies, European Journal of Finance, Urban Studies, International Review of Financial Analysis and the Journal of Real Estate Research.

Since 2014 he has been co-editor of the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management (JREPM), the industry facing applied investment journal of the American Real Estate Society. Simon is a past-president of the International Real Estate Society, and is to be President of the American Real Estate Society (ARES) in 2021-22. He was Chair of ARES' 2019 Annual Meeting in Scottsdale and of the European Real Estate Society Annual Conference in 2005 (Dublin) and 2007 (London). In addition to various best paper awards, Simon received the 2006 International Real Estate Society Achievement Award and the 2018 Nick Tyrrell Research Prize for innovative applied research in real estate investment.
